Pleasure ships, even if designed to remain at sea, require basic maintenance work out of the water to guarantee their safety and lengthen their lives. After having sailed over the summer months, every yacht should undergo overhaul and maintenance. Owing to its very large facilities, SNO is capable of taking on winter storage of vessels up to 70 metres long.

How to put up a vessel in winter storage

SNO takes care of the vessel following a very precise procedure:

1. 1. The vessel arrives at the shipyard and is immediately tested at sea with the customer in order to establish the actual conditions of the ship.

2. 1. An estimate is then proposed for winter storage, which, if approved and signed, enables basic work to be initiated on the ship, such as:
· Ship hauling
· High pressure water blast cleaning of the hull
· Washing of the bulwarks
· Platform blocking

3. The winterising of engines, generators, hydraulic electrical and utilities systems then begins

4. The ship is washed thoroughly with fresh water and is then moved into the shed area where it is covered with a nylon sheet.

Batteries will be charged regularly.
At the end of the winter season, the ship goes back to the platform, where dry-docking, coupon services, sea trial, cleaning and delivery are performed.
The sum total of these procedures, with storage away from any foul weather and humidity, will guarantee a new summer shipping season with a perfectly shipshape yacht.
